6ʺW × 3.5ʺD × 6ʺH The iron is in great vintage condition, the best I’ve ever seen. The top and sides are almost completely black. It has not been restored just very well preserved. This type of flat iron also known as a sad iron was in many homes before the invention of the electric iron. It was heated by putting it on a cook stove. This vintage piece is an ideal farmhouse doorstop. The brand is unknown but there is a stamp of the number 8 on top. They were used during the 18th and 19th centuries. The age of this one is an estimate.
